In today’s globalized world, foreign languages enable students to have access to better educational and employment opportunities. To ensure students of SMCDC are not left behind in this global race, the college offers French as a second language. The Department of French offers beginner and intermediate level courses with focus on conversational skills. The department which commenced operations from inception has a senior faculty member with more than 10 years of experience is teaching at the institution. She also has a certificate in “DALF C1” with a PG in Translation ( French-English).
BEST PRACTICES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FRENCH :
- The department helps students familiarize themselves with the French culture through different activities such as French singing, storytelling, literature reading and also encourages students to acquaint themselves with French cuisine and fashion
- Students are encouraged to prepare for the internationally acclaimed French proficiency exams and are rendered support in their future endeavor sat MNCs
- Students are even guided in applying for scholarships for studying in France and other French-speaking countries
- The major focus is on speaking skills by providing students with regular exposure to all listening and conversational activities
- The department has an exclusive and well-equipped Language Lab for French students wherein students are provided exposure to French Movies, Songs and Short films regularly
Activities of the Department:
- The international French Language Day on 20th March is celebrated every year
- French National Day on 14th July is commemorated every year
- The Department organizes Online / Offline Competitions viz., Singing, Poetry Recitation, Story Telling, Debate, Topic Presentation etc., for all students of French Language as part of French Club activities

Sanskrit is acknowledged not merely as a language, but as an inclusive heritage of Indians which functions as a bridge between India’s past and present. It is the key to Indian Intellectual Traditions, Art, Culture, Linguistics, Philosophy, Science, and Spirituality. With this in view, a full-fledged Department of Sanskrit was established in 2001. It has2 faculty members in the Department having considerable expertise. The ultimate aim of the Department is to impart high-quality of teaching to make Sanskrit academic culture an integral part of our modern lives so that Indian intellectual traditions blend wonderfully with the contemporary context of our lives. The Department is dedicated to creating an academic platform for developing innovative ideas in human sciences for sustainable human development by re-claiming pasts for tackling contemporary issues and re-visioning the future through uninterrupted cosmopolitan Sanskrit Knowledge Systems.

- Sanskrit Day is organized during August every year
- Co-curricular and extracurricular activities are organized for all students of Sanskrit language
- The recitation of Sanskrit Shabdasis emphasized and spoken Sanskrit is encouraged
- The department encourages students to participate in Inter-Collegiate and Universality Level Competitions
DEPARTMENT OF HINDI:
ABOUT US

The Department of Hindi having commenced in the year 2001 offersgeneral Hindi as an optional language to all students of the College. The Department is headed by a senior faculty with Doctoral Degree and experienced faculty, who work with dedication and commitment.
The Department organizes a wide array of activities which helps students refine their language skills and even equips them for jobs in the fields of translation, media and press.
Best Practices of the Department of Hindi:
- Conducted workshops for students on speaking skills
- Organized Personality Development Programmes
- Co-curricular activities such as Story Telling, Brain Gym, Poetry Writing, One Act Play, NukkadNatak, Debate, Elocution, Essay Writing, Quiz etc.,
- Encouraged students to writeresearch papers and publish them in National Level Hindi Magazines and Anthologies
- Prizes have been won by students in paper presentation competitions held at National Level Conferences
- Intra-departmental and Inter-collegiate Competitions are conducted to showcase the various skills of students
